October 2011 Bicton Cross Country
Thirty four pupils from Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 represented the school at the Bicton Cross Country run. Whilst some pupils had competed at Bicton in previous years, for some pupils it was the first time they had run a cross country race. The enthusiasm and positive attitude demonstrated by pupils was excellent.
Several pupils excelled in their races, including Lorna Gebbie who won the Year 5/6 Girls race, Esme Kilburn-Thompson who came third in the Y3/4 Girls race and Tom Real who came third in the Y3/4 Boys race.

October 2011 Stockland Cross Country
Fourteen pupils from Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 represented our school at the Stockland Cross Country race. As in previous years, it was a challenging course for our children with steep inclines, streams and uneven ground througout. All our pupils showed real determination and completed the course.
There were some outstanding personal races with Tom Real finishing 6th in the Year 3 and Year 4 Boys race and Lorna Gebbie finishing 12th in the Year 5 and Year 6 Girls race. The outstanding performance was from Esme Kilburn-Thompson who finished 5th in the Year 3 and Year 4 Girls race.

October 2011 High 5 Netball Competition
Twenty one pupils from Year 5 and Year 6 represented our school at the High 5 Netball competition at Exmouth Community College. It was an evening of many firsts: the first time that our school has taken 21 children, 3 teams, to this event (in fact we were the only school with 3 teams); the first time that many children had played in a competitive netball match; the first time that many children had represented the school in a competitive sporting activity. The children played many games and, although not always the winning side, showed good team spirit.
There were outstanding performances from: Ria Tozer for outstanding tactical play particularly when in attack; Jake Yarwood for showing resilience and positive competitive play in all games; and Evie Kilburn-Thompson for playing all matches with the biggest smile on her face!

November 2011 Stockland Cross Country
Seven pupils from Year 3 and Year 4 represented our school at the second Stockland Cross Country race (Year 5 and Year 6 were absent due to their London Residential). Most of the runners had participated in the first race and were prepared for the challenging course. Each race began with the runners being given the choice of getting wet feet in the river crossing or to take the longer route around the road. There were no dry feet in the cars after the races!
The team looked so smart in their new running vests and many pupils improved on their position from the previous race.

November 2011 Devon Primary School Football League (Seven-a-side)
Nine pupils from Year 5 and Year 6 represented our school in an away fixture against Otterton Church of England Primary School in the Devon Primary School Football League. Despite a disasterous start which resulted in a 2-0 deficit, good communication between players and great determination brought the score back to 2-2 at half time. In the second half, the team controlled the game and our defensive unit looked much stronger. The final result was Otterton Church of England Primary School 2 - St Peter's Church of England Primary School 4. Scorers: Matt Garnett (3) and Charlie Mears (1).
December 2011 Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 Girls' Football
On Friday 2nd December girls from Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 represented the school in a friendly football match against Marpool Primary School, Exmouth. The Year 3 and Year 4 match was a very high scoring victory, 7-1 to St. Peter’s. Although the Year 5 and Year 6 match resulted in a 5-0 defeat, there was a significant improvement in the 2nd half performance and only one goal was conceced after half time. Well done girls!
December 2011 Year 2 and Year 3 Boys' Football
On Monday 5th December nine pupils from Year 2 and Year 3 represented the school in a friendly football match against Otterton Church of England Primary School. The game remained extremely close, even after St Peter's took a 1-0 lead, which lead to a very dramatic last few minutes. Despite conceding an
equaliser as the light began to fade, our pupils remained boyant and score a late goal to win the game 2-1. Well done Year 2 and Year 3!

December 2011 Year 5 and Year 6 Boys' Football
On the same evening as a the Year 2 and Year 3 fixture, nine pupils from Year 5 and Year 6 represented the school in a friendly football match against Otterton Church of England Primary School. Unfortunately, on this occasion we lost 3-1, but there were some very promising performances. At school we were so
pleased to hear feedback from parents about the positive team spirit which was present during and after the game. There will be more football fixtures in 2012 and the players who represented the school will be offered the opportunity to play again.

December 2011 Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 Gymnastics
On Monday 12th December pupils from Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 performed a fantastic gymnastic display as part of the Christmas Performance at St Peter's Church. This was an excellent opportunity for pupils to demonstrate the skills that they had developed during their morning extra-curricular training sessions.
December 2011 Inter House Football - The Christmas Cup
On Friday 16th December, the last day of term, over 80 pupils from Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 represented their Houses in a five-a-side competition. Unfortunately, due to weather conditions the majority of the games were played on the playgound rather than on the school field. The positive attitude, respect and friendship show by all the participants, particularly those pupils from Year 6 who helped referee some of the games, was excellent.

The local competition, run by Exeter City FC, was held at Exeter University. Although our two teams were unable to qualify for the next round, the team spirit shown by pupils was outstanding.
February 2012 Devon Primary School Football League (Seven-a-side)
Eight pupils from Year 5 and Year 6 represented St Peter's in an away fixture against West Hill Primary School in the Devon Primary School Football League.
St Peter's started the first half brightly, but despite several opportunities the score remained 0-0 at half time. In the second half West Hill improved and took the lead after intercepting a goal kick. Despite increasing pressure from West Hill, St Peter's managed to equalise following a series of accurate passes. The game ended 1-1, a fair result which rewarded good performances from both teams. Scorers: Kyle Barnsley (1).

February 2012 Stockland
Very muddy! Despite the conditions, there were several very good peformances and a number of top twenty finishes. The outstanding performances were from Lorna Gebbie who finished 13th and Esme Kilburn-Thompson who ran the final stages of the race like Zola Budd (without trainers) and secured a 10th place finish. The final race of the series is scheduled for Thursday 29th March.
February 2012 Year 4 and Year 5 Boys' Football
On Monday 20th February, nine boys from Year 4 and Year 5 represented St Peter's in a football friendly against Otterton Primary School. Due to the difference in school sizes, it was agreed that Otterton Primary School would include pupils from Year 6 in their team. Despite the obvious age and height differences, our players competed for every loose ball and created several excellent chances. The final score was 1-1. We will try to offer further competitive football opportunities for pupils in Year 4 and Year 5.
Febraury 2012 KS1 Physical Education Day
On the morning of 21st February, the Youth Development team at Exeter City Football Club delivered some high quality football coaching to all pupils in Key

by Year 6 pupils. This fantastic event was won by the Yellow House!
Well done to Year 6 for organising a superb event and encouraging Key Stage 1 pupils to be healthy and active.

February 2012 Devon Primary School Football League (Seven-a-side)
On Monday 27th February, ten boys from Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 represented St Peter's in a football friendly against Clyst St Mary Primary School. The confidence and team spirit shown by the team to recover from a half-time two goal deficit to bring the game back to 2-2 was excellent. Unfortunately, a flurry of late goals resulted in a very narrow 4-3 defeat. The members of staff from Clyst St Mary agreed that it was an excellent game and praised our pupils for our fair play and respect. Thank you to Mr Hushon who refereed the game.
February 2012 and March 2012 University of Exeter Study
Pupils from Year 5 and Year 6 pupils have taken part in the University of Exeter study into the relationship between physical activity and psychological wellbeing.
The reseachers were amazed by the positive response from Year 5 and Year 6 pupils. In fact, so many pupils wanted to take part that they did not have enough wrist monitors on their initial visit. After the samples were taken, the researchers returned to talk to the pupils about the importance of physical activity on general health and psychological wellbeing.

March 2012 Bicton Cross Country
Twenty four pupils from Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 represented the school at the Bicton Cross Country run. Whilst some pupils had competed at Bicton in October, for some pupils it was the first time they had run a cross country race. I was so pleased to see so many Year 3 and Year 4 runners at the event.
Lorna Gebbie won the Year 5/6 Girls race and Annabelle Moger-Taylor came second in the Y3/4 Girls race. Well done!

March 2012 Year 2 and Year 3 Boys' Football
On Monday 12th March, 14 boys from Year 2 and Year 3 represented St Peter's Church of England Primary School in a series of four friendly matches against Otterton Primary School. St Peter's won all four matches. Each action packed game included a flood of goals and so it was very difficult for Mr Lee to keep a record of the scores! The most important outcomes were that pupils had the opportunity to represent the school and everyone had fun! Well done St Peter's!
